April 25th 2014

I guess I should be resigned to slow progress by now but also be encouraged by what progress there is.

Kornog is out of the paint shop but there is little else to show for the large bill I received this week. What the hell is a “Normaclamp Torro Stainless”? Whatever it is is cost £46.64 plus VAT.

Apart from the anchor locker cover Kornog looks nice and shiny. She will look even better with cockpit locker hatches / seats and all the other trimmings. The anchor locker cover looks terrible. It was originally very poorly finished, now it is very poorly finished with a nice paint job. It will have to be sorted. Meanwhile Paul is fixing the anchor windlass and should move back inside next week. Here are some pictures:-

Looking the same but the deck is now painted:-

Anchor windlass goes here, as will the refurbished locker cover:-

Nice and shiny.

Went to visit my mum in Bournemouth and saw this (nothing to do with the boat):-

1600 cc MGA. In perfect condition (apart from the grill).

April 11th

11 days overdue (Kornog was due on her mooring the first week of April) and a week after I was last at the yard Kornog is still in the spray shop. There has been some forward movement and I’m looking forward to next week to see her finished (I hope).

Still you can see that she will look great. You can see the new forward deck ready to take the windlass.

Trevor my sprayer (just finished spraying a 40ft power boat in 5 shades of metallic paint – classy!)

My hatch cover and locker lids are sitting on the bench. 6 coats of primer on each lid before being sprayed proper; ten the teak slats will go on.

I have doubts now whether Kornog will be ready for the Round the Island Race.

Bought a tender. Very nice but needs a little TLC.
